Abstract
|
|
|
Adenoacanthoma or squamous-cell carcinoma originating in the gastric mucosa is a fairly rare malignancy while most of the carcinomas in the stomach are adenocarcinoma. with varying degree of differentiation.
A 44 year old Korean male was admitted to Chung Nam National University Hos pital because of abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation, abdominal fullness and palpable tumor mass in the upper abdomen for 18 months.
Subtotally gastrectomized specimen showed a deep ulcer, measuring 3. 5 x 3.0 x 2. U cm along the lesser curvature of the pylorus, and the ulcer edge is elevated with neoplastic infiltration. Microscopically many irregular cancer pearls are scattered in the sheets or cords of tumor cells which are consisted mainly of anaplastic, but sometimes individually keratinizing large hyperchromatic squamoid cells. A few no-
des draining stomach are also invaded by the new growths.
